800website builds e-commerce sites in Dubai. Payment setup is the part that delays projects most, so plan it first.
What payment gateways work in the UAE?
The commonly used options are Stripe, Telr, Network International, PayTabs, Checkout.com and Amazon Payment Services (formerly PayFort). All integrate with WooCommerce and Shopify.
Broadly: Stripe is the easiest to integrate and best documented. Telr and PayTabs are regional specialists with strong local card and wallet support. Network International is the large regional acquirer, common with established retailers. Checkout.com suits higher volume.
Which is right depends less on features than on approval. Some providers are quicker to onboard small businesses; others are geared to established companies with trading history. Apply to two in parallel rather than waiting on one.
What does it cost to integrate one?
Integration with us is AED 2,500 — connecting the gateway, configuring currencies, and testing the full checkout including a real transaction and a refund.
The gateway’s own fees are entirely separate and paid to them, not to us: typically a percentage per transaction plus a small fixed fee, and often a setup or monthly charge. Ask specifically about international card rates, which are usually higher — relevant in a market with as many overseas cardholders as the UAE.
Budget both. A build quote that includes “payment integration” is covering the technical work, never the transaction fees.
How do I add payments to a mobile app?
Same gateways, different rules. For physical goods and services, you can use a normal payment gateway in your app. For digital goods and subscriptions consumed inside the app, Apple and Google require their own in-app purchase systems and take a percentage — and they enforce this.
That distinction catches people out. A restaurant ordering app takes card payments through a gateway with no store commission. An app selling a subscription to in-app content must use Apple’s system and pay the fee.
Payment integration in an app is AED 2,500 with us, alongside user accounts at AED 1,500 if customers need saved details.
What slows payment setup down?
Approval, almost always. UAE gateways require a trade licence and a corporate bank account, and will ask for supporting documents about what you sell. For a new company that process can take weeks.
Start it on day one of the project, before design begins. We have seen otherwise-finished stores sit waiting on gateway approval — the site is done and cannot take money.
Enable cash on delivery in the meantime if it suits your products. It costs nothing and lets you trade while approval completes.
